Besides wanting the GDP of at least half the eastern world, Alex Rodriguez still has it all.

He's got more money than he knows what to do with, he's pretty good looking -- which is good considering he won't be able to handle the stress of all his post season failures too much longer and he's got a hot wife.

Personally, the hot wife is best of all. The contract is cool, and having large pecks may be an icebreaker, but there are only so many hot chicks.

He has proven that he can't perform in the playoffs, but apparently he can perform elsewhere.

But, that doesn't mean that his $300 million demands aren't ridiculous. Every team knows he's hands down the best player in the game right now and since there are only four teams willing to even talk with his agent Scott Boras speaks volumes about how much he wants.

If Steinbrenner doesn't want anything to do with him anymore, neither should anyone else.

Sur-Real Estate

So after trying to sell his 19,440-square-foot estate on Star Island since January, The Big Donald aka Shaq O'Neal finally unloaded his pricey pad to none other than "The Pride of Miami" - Alex Rodriguez. O'Neal was originally asking for $35M, but took somewhere between $25-$27M (the equivalent of April-late July under the new contract A-Rod is seeking) from the free agent slugger.

It's nice to make the equivalent of the average American's annual income in just one major league at bat (around $42K per at bat - under his old contract).

It's probably because your agent is Scott Boras.

With the Boston Red Sox less than 15 outs from their second World Series title in as much time as it's taken the Yankees to start using words like "patience" and "transition," the league's MFP (Most Fragile Psyche) and his ATM-machine-of-an-agent hijacked baseball's grandest stage to announce that the great A-Rod has opted out of his contract, leaving $70M+ on the table.

Biggest player, on the biggest team, making the biggest money ... why not make the biggest announcement, on the biggest stage and get the biggest reaction?

Unfortunately for A-Rod - who a growing number of fans already perceive to be a money-first, me-first player - all this announcement did was remind Yankees fans why he needs to go.

It's one thing to have your agent make the announcement and upstage the World Series, but it's quite another to plead for the understanding of a dedicated fan base by saying "New York is where I want to be" and "Anything short of a Yankees championship is a failure," only to bail for more money the first chance you get ... way to shatter the stereotype.

The Yanks are better off with a fresh start.

No more "Stray Rod" headlines, no more record-breaking - and equally meaningless - late April/early May offensive displays, no more fairy-like ball slapping attempts, and thankfully no more hearing about 1-for-14, 0 RBI and 4 strikeout post season performances ... unless of course, the Yankees re-sign Jorge Posada.
